Day Program
for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts,
and Campfire Members
The Mount Vernon Encampment Program for Day
Visitors consists of stations for Scouts to visit where they can participate in a variety
of activities and tour various parts of the estate.
Scheduled Activities
There are Salutes to George Washington and a Wreath Laying Ceremony
scheduled for 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. All Day Visitors are encouraged to
participate in one or more of these ceremonies.
Conversations with George Washington at 10:45 a.m. and at 2:45 p.m. will
be held in the Mess Tent on the edge of the 12-Acre Field west of the Bowling Green
opposite the mansion.
Firing drills by the First Maryland Regiment will be held at the 12-Acre
Field west of the Bowling Green opposite the mansion at 11:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m.

Scouts who complete the program stations and participate in one of the
Salutes to George Washington may purchase the special Mount Vernon Encampment Day Program
Patch from the Mount Vernon Gift Shop. Click here to
access a form that Scouts can use to record their participation in these events.
Other Mount Vernon Activity Patches and
Pins
Mount Vernon has several patches and pins that participants can
qualify for as they complete different portions of the program. These awards may also be
purchased from the Mount Vernon Gift Shop after completing the requirements. These awards
are as follows:

Vernon Historic Trails Patch. Complete the questions in the Mount Vernon
Historic Trail Guide while touring the various stations. |

the program at one or more of the three surveying stations. |

Complete the program at the Colonial Farming station and visit the Treading Barn. |

Tomb. |
