of the Mount Vernon encampment. |

member of a Boy Scout troop, Varsity team, Venturing crew, or Explorer post. If an
adult leader, be formally trained for the position the person holds in his/her unit (or
with the district or council). |

Meet both of the requirements
that Mount Vernon has established for Scouts to earn a special "200 Years" patch:

Write ten "Boy Scout Rules of Civility for the 21st
Century" that follow the form of the 110 "Rules of Civility & Decent
Behaviour in Company and Conversation" that George Washington wrote when he was in
his early teens. |

Plan and carry out a community event to commemorate the 1999
Bicentennial of George Washington. (Plans for this commemorative event must be spelled out
prior to the submission of an individual's application to participate in the Mount Vernon
encampment to their district. Depending on the nature of the event, it may not occur until
after the application is submitted, and possibly not until after the encampment.) |

Be prepared to pay all encampment
fees in full during the first two weeks of June after notification is received from a
district that the individual has placed on the roster of encampment participants. (The
encampment fee is not expected to exceed $20; up to another $15 or so may be assessed by
districts to cover the cost of food and other provisions for their units.) |

Read and sign a pledge affirming the individual's intention to behave in
an exemplary manner at all times they are on the Mount Vernon grounds during the
encampment. (For Scouts under the age of 18 years, a parent or guardian must countersign
this statement.) |
